With over 128 different species of fruiting trees, plants, bushes, nut trees, and vines; everything was living and thriving. This project was created as an emergency bug out plan thorough assessment and observation of the land, integrating the natural systems at work (i.e. elevation, wind, rainfall, water movement, soil, drainage, sunlight etc). Design was drawn based on the specific layout of the land (i.e. plotting plant sites in relationship to the natural systems, soil depths and other plants while working with the flow of the land and buildings on site). Trees are now all over 9 years old and were fruiting well. Planting of a mix of tropical fruit trees and beneficial plants to create a foundation of a low maintenance, self-sustaining, self-seeding farm. Integrating a natural systems to benefit plant life. Utilizing perma-culture principles and techniques. Integrating the raw nature of the land (lava, fern, ohia lehua) and native species with tropical abundance. Creating a sustainable agro-forestry system that will take advantage of environmental resources and encourage symbiosis. Fruit trees inter-cropped with hardwoods and other beneficial trees. Encouraging perennial ground covers and existing beneficial plants to control weeds, erosion, invite beneficial insects and encourage soil to heal.
